Education: The Gift That Keeps On Giving

As we start thinking about Christmas and what gifts we’d love to give (or receive), we tend to think of material things.

But, there’s a gift that keeps giving long after the holidays end. It’s the gift of education.

Yes, I know, it doesn’t come in a fancy box, and it might not be the first thing that comes to mind when we think of a Christmas gift. But, believe me, there’s nothing quite like it.

When I first started my journey in property development, I didn’t know much. I was like many people: dreaming big but struggling to see a way forward. I had a huge mortgage, was juggling work that didn’t inspire me, and was trying to make things work with my young family.

The world of property development seemed out of reach. I thought, “That’s for the big players. People with more money or experience.” But something in me knew I had to make a change. I wanted more than just the daily grind, more than just paying bills and barely getting by.

So, I made a decision that changed everything. I invested $40K in my education. And believe me, I felt the weight of every dollar. But I saw it as an investment in my future. I told myself, “If I can just learn the right strategies, then I can create a better life for myself and my family.”

That investment changed my life. Today, I’ve done over $54M in property deals. I’ve taught dozens of people how to do the same and build a better life for their families. I’ve built a better life for my three daughters, who now have the opportunity to do the things they love with both their parents. I’ve retired my husband and now we both enjoy more vacations and less financial stress.

And guess what? That $40K investment isn’t done paying itself off. I’ll continue to use those strategies throughout my life and reap even bigger rewards.

When I was starting, I didn’t try to reinvent the wheel. I looked for people who were successful in property development, studied their methods, and followed their advice. And it paid off.

Some people hesitate to invest in education because they see it as an expense. But here’s the thing: the right education saves you far more than it costs.

Think about it. Let’s say you want to get into property development, but you don’t invest in learning the ins and outs. You might make a few costly mistakes: overpaying for land, underestimating renovation costs, or choosing a location that doesn’t appreciate.

Those mistakes can cost you tens of thousands of dollars, if not more. On the other hand, if you invest in education, you’re more likely to avoid those mistakes and maximise your profit potential.

When I first started, I didn’t know about things like feasibility studies, market analysis, or zoning laws. But because I invested in education, I learned all of that upfront. I saved time, avoided costly errors, and saw a return on my investment much faster.

Through property development, I’ve been able to clear my mortgage, build a lifestyle I love, and provide for my family. But I couldn’t have done it without the education that gave me the tools and confidence to pursue it.
